Saint Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick the patron saint of Ireland. Each year, thousands of partygoers wearing Irish green and Guinness hats descend on London for St Patrick’s Day. Countless people soak up the luck of the Irish as they turn the capital green on March 17. It’s not a public holiday in England, London pulls out all the stops for St Patrick’s Day each year. This year celebrations start from 13th March -15th March, the weekend before. I have listed a few of the exciting things happening that weekend and where best to go. The procession sets off at midday from Piccadilly and makes its way along a 1.5-mile route, passing some of London’s most iconic landmarks, including The Ritz, Piccadilly Circus, Whitehall and finishing in Trafalgar Square where the festival is staged. Be amazed by the flamboyant pageantry, elaborate floats, marching bands from across the UK, sports clubs and Irish dancing schools all taking part. Celebrate Shrove Tuesday aka Pancake Day!

Pancake Day, which is otherwise known as Shrove Tuesday,it is always the day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the 40 days leading up to Easter. This year it falls on Tuesday, February 25th . The tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday began as a way to use up ingredients including butter, milk and eggs that were not supposed to be eaten and would go bad during the period of Lent. Pancakes, particularly thin and buttery crepes, were a great way to clear the cupboards in one easy and indulgent dish. Besides from just eating pancakes on Pancake day there are lots of fun events happening so check out below. It is only November, but the Festive season is in full swing and I don’t know about you, but I am fully embracing it. The festive lights, the mulled wine and all the late-night shopping. One of the best places to get all your Christmas present and feel very festive is going to Christmas markets which Europe is famously known for. Lucky for us, England offers some of the most magical Christmas markets and I have put together a list of the Top five must visits Christmas markets this year!    Bath Christmas Market  Dates: 28th November – 15th December Website: bathchristmasmarket.co.uk/   Opening hours differ Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be open from 10AM–7PM, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays will be open longer 10AM–8PM while Sundays will be open 10AM–6PM.
